SOOOOOOO....anyway when flare goes on the trip he gets into alot of trouble and when they go through towns one of the groups get taken by prince Z but they manage to escape and the other group gets captured by slavers but they escape as well....and thats really great because i would hate for them to get sold into slavery. then flare makes it to this mountainn thing and they almost get killed by goblins but the goblins refuse to go up the mountain so that saved them. then they make it to the top and they go into the caves in the mountain and find giant man eating spiders dead bodies a wierd snake monster thing and finally they find the sword that they went on the trip for and the other two gaurdians (Philip & Attuck) try to pick it up but they cant then Flare picks it up and thats when they notice prince Z and his cronies coming at them. So after they notice that attuck gets knocked out and Flare uses sorcery to save them. Anyway then after Flare uses his magic Philip attacked flare because he realized that Flare fullfilled the prophecy and philip is under the influence of the church anyway Philip and Flare fight and Philip ends up dying. After Philip dies Flare drags attuck out of the caves and they ride on a dragon back to Telur. Once they get back Flare lies and says that Philip died a heroe trying to help and the sword that was meant to be Flares (ossender is the swords name) is taken from him and given to the crown prince so Flare decides to steal it back so he takes it and escapes from Telur and that is where the book ends. So I was really glad that everyone escaped slavery and stuff and when i read the part about the man eating spiders i FREAKED OUT and couldnt sleep later that night anyway but the two things that upset me most was when Philip betrayed Flaer and when Ossender was taken from him both those things made me really mad becayse Philip was Flares friend and Ossender was his by right it was actually Flares great great great grandfathers sword on his elven side. Also i didnt really like where the book ended there should have been more but now i have to wait for the third book top come out......and that sucks.......sigh........ anyway so how would you feel if your friend betrayed you and something of yours was taken away by someone and given to your brother and/or sister?

The next thing that goes on in the book is flare goes on a hunting trip with the crowned prince some nobles and the king and flare let the crowned prince get the first kill and the prince rubs it in his face so the king decides to settle it with an archery contest and flare won and the prince got really angry and yelled at flare. So the king decided to send flare on a mission to get an ancient sword that is in the prophecy and the church didnt object...and that was suprising. And then it goes on to this part where the church is trying to turn the other gaurdians flares friends against him. like spying so the gaurdians split into 3 groups and set out. Meanwhile prince Z is also looking for the sword and he puts a price on all the gaurdians heads. So fist of all if some1 kept bragging to me about how wonderful at hunting they are i would so get angry expecially if i had let them win and i know i would feel really happy if that person got angry at me and stormed off.I was also really suprised when the church let flare go on the trip.
So in the second book in the series Flare is called into the king of Telurs office and is told that his father did not rape his mother and the king tells Flare that he is his father and because of the prophecy that talks of a half elf half human that restores the dragon order and is heir to both kingdoms. So his parents kept it a secret and then the king then tells Flare that he is going to adopt him so as to right a wrong so to speak. so then flare is introduced to the kings other children the older ones do not like him because they are all sort of stuck up but the younger ones are all nice and amiable towards him. Flare is upset because this will compicate his life and he doesnt want to change what he does but then he is told he doesnt have to change perfessions. The next thing that happens is Flare is introduced to a sorcerer and the sorcerers job is to teach flare about all the nobble families in telur and their history so he doesnt make a mistake when introduced to the ither nobles. The sorcerer also starts to teach flare sorcery and it is illegal for a warrior to learn magic in any way because of the church. So i wasnt really suprised when the king told flare he was his son i expected it but it was a suprise when the king adopted flare that made things really sucky i mean now that flare is a hero all of a sudden the king decides to tell him like now he is worthy its sort of a slap in the face in my opinion but thats just me. Anyway so when flare started to learn sorcery i was exited its a big thing it predicts a lot of exitment and conflict with the church. And the more exitement the better in my opinion. then the kings older children what do they think they are better than flare he is already a prince and a war hero i would be really ticked at them if i was flare because the only thing that they have done in their life that was note worthy was that they were born into royalty. ................................. ......SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH
What happened next was that Prince Z told Flare he could give up now and survive or fight and die. So Flare decided to fight untill reinforcements arive but the mages couldnt send a message to Telur so they had to send a gaurdian out at night. So they decided to send heather and make a distraction. As a distraction they decided to send another gaurdian who then died. The gates fell a few days after heather left and flare himself fought prince Z and severley wounded him and prince Z flew off. Then a troll kills Flares girlfriend in a sword fight she was a gaurdian as well he goes crazy because he thought he loved her and killed the leader troll who was 17 feet tall and then beat back the forces that were inside the fort all by himself in his rage. Then like an hour later Heather arrived with reinforcements. After that Flare and his fellow gaurdians went back to Telur and they were thought of as heroes. And that was the end of the first book in the series. So i was really sad that two of the gaurdians died in this book. the worst was when flares love died though, i almost cried. anyway i was als really suprised when flare went insane and killed that troll and all of those goblins i thought he would get himself killed. I was really happy when he and all of the gaurdians were anounced heros.
So Flare is assigned to gaurd one of the princesses and then the king reassigned him to gaurd the royal witch cassandra and on the first day he saves her and from then on they are really good friends......anyway so then it sorta skips ahead to Flares graduation fron training camp and Flare will be reassigned to leading troops so on his graduation he and Cassandra "celebrate" in cassandras room. Then when Flare wakes up in the morning he gets his assignment and thats leading 300 regular troops and the 13 other gaurdians to a mountain pass base thing when he gets there the leader at the base wants them to go out and fight goblins leaving the base vulnerable. So Flare dissobeys orders and him the gaurdians and the 300 soldiers he led. Well the next day thousands of goblins had surrounded the fort and the leader of the goblins prince Z handed Flare a bag that contained the former leader of the bases head. So i was really excited that Flare was graduating because that meant he would have more adventures but i was also sad because he would be leaving Cassandra behind. I wasnt really suprised when Flare and Cassandra "celebrated" because you could see it coming. Anyway then when he got such a big assignment i was stunned because he was just out of training and really in controll of 313 troops was just a bit much. Then when he disobeyed orders i was suprised yet not because i didnt think Flare would put the career in danger after he worked so hard for it but i also realized it was a stupid order because it would have left the fort in danger and possibly killed all of the troops. And lastly when prince Z threw the bag with the head in it at him all i could think at that moment was....EEEEEWWWWWWWWWIIIIIIEEEEEE.....but reallly wouldnt that be your thought too?

So next in the book Flare returns to the city of Telur after his months of training. The most important lesson he learned is that when you are fighting to the death fair gets you killed so fight dirty in order to live. Flare has one day to rest before the test to enter the gaurdians begins the test will last three days and it tests speed agility strength stamina and strategy. Flare passes the tests but then he has to get passed by a table of judges that will test his mental strength and see if he can think through the stress of being picked on and stuff. He passes this and is then put in a boot camp sorta thing and he is introduced to the other 13 members of his squad. only one is an elf the rest are all human and there are two mages in his group as well. they neer the end of boot camp and the officer training them has to pick a leader for the group the two people that he is considering are Flare and Philip who is a noble mans son. So since he cant decide he has then swordfight for leadership and flare wins. I was really happy when flare made it past the tests because that was sorta his dream and stuff . But because flare is elven royalty he isnt treated nicely at first and that makes me mad because once again he cant controll that and he should be judged by the way he behaves and not beause he is of a different race or because he has a title. I new that flare was going to win leadership of the group though it was just so expected. I also felt really sad for flare though because he accomplished all of this but he had no family to tell of his success that would really depress me.

So Flare decided that in order to do what he really wanted to do with his life he would go on a "hunting trip". So he prepares the things that he needs and says goodbye to his mother and when he did this his mother told him a secret that he was actually born two months earlier and she hidwhen he was born because there was a prophecy aout a half human half elf that would do terrible things that said that the person prophesized aboutwould be born in the spring so she waited until summer to announce his birth for his protection. Then Flare sets off on his journey and comes across a lake monster and barely comes away with his life. after he defeated the lake monster he crossed over into human territory. When he started going through human towns people stared at him because it wasnt very often that they saw elves. After a couple of days ride through the country he came to the city of Telur. When he got into the city he started looking for the elven ambassador. When he found him he aranged a meeting with the king of Telur. The king listened to what Flare had to say then said he would let him try out for a spot in the gaurdians. He then arranged for Flare to have a warrior train him. The next morning Flare set out with his trainer and would be gone from Telur for 3 months. I was really shocked when his mother told him of the prophecy and explained the details of why she kept it a secret from him and i wouldnt really think that such a thing as a prophecy would be such a big deal because it could be wrong. I also thought it was really strange how when he was passing by all those towns people were staring at him even if it was a rare occurence to see an elf i dont see why they all stopped what they were doing to stare sometimes even with open hostility. that just doent make sense just because the relations between elves and humans are strained doesnt meen that they have to hate each other.
So for this month I decided to read a series. The first book in this series is called The Gaurdians. Its about a half elf prince named Flaranthlas Eldanri or as he likes his friends to call him Flare. So in the first chapter you learn that Flares mother an elven princess was raped by a human and Flare was the result of this. Because of this incident humans and elves do not talk to each other. Next you learn that Flare is virtually an outsider in his country and that most of the elves pretend that he doesnt even exist. It is Flares birthday and it is elven tradition that when young elves reach twenty that they have to pick a career path and tell the oldest male in the family of their choice. So Flare is on his way to see his grandfather the king. On the way he he runs into his cousin . His cousin and his uncle hate Flare because he is part human and think he should be exiled. After he runs into them he continues on his way to the palace. When he finally gets to see his grandfather he tells him that he wants to become a gaurdian of Telur (Telur is a human country). When his grandfather hears this he gets really angry at Flare and tells him that he cant do that. Flare is upset because it is against the elven rules for a young elf to be ordered into a career path. After that Flare leaves the castle and plans a way for him to run away and become a gaurdian of Telur. I think I would get really tired of people ignoring me because of what my parents did or being meanbecause of things I have no controll over. And if my family told me that I couldnt do something that i knew would make me happy I would probably get really angry and do it anyway just to spite them.
